About Ashley!
A Senior, majoring in Business and Technology Management at New York University (NYU) at the Tandon School of Engineering. She is part of the Opportunities Program and a well respected scholar of the Global Leaders and Scholars in Stem Program. Since her arrival at the school she has been very passionate about traveling and becoming culturally aware of how people live day to day in various countries. With her numerous travels , Ashley hopes to pursue a career related to international affairs. Some things our NYU Senior enjoys is finding new food places, especially any dessert place that have delicious crepes!
Starting the Journey:
As a first generation Hispanic student and woman in stem, Ashley has pushed her limits to challenge herself in school to not only succeed for the future but create a welcoming environment for students like herself as well. Ashley chose to major in Business and Technology Management with a concentration in Finance to understand how financial management plays a role in engineering. This has inspired her to be an advocate later on for Hispanic startups and upcoming businesses.
Being part of a community has shaped who she has become, whether it's being part of the youth group in her local church before attending college, to the communities she's found at NYU. It has motivated her to not only give back to the community, but to the world by being part of OP and GLASS and these testimonies from her are prime examples:
- OP Impact
-
The Opportunities Program has given me the opportunity to not only continue my studies but in providing the biggest support system I have ever had in any academic year. OP strives to make a community and provide you with support on an academic, financial, career based level. OP has become a family to me here at NYU Tandon through the various events and staff. With this support, it has inspired me to give back to my OP community through mentoring upcoming classmates, advocating for the students here, and creating a space they feel welcomed too.
- GLASS Impact
-
The GLASS program has provided me with the resources to learn new skills and enhance my academic and professional skills. The GLASS program as also been able to provide a space to help students gain new perspectives on different cultures and different perspectives. Glass provides students with various opportunities by providing opportunities for internships, being able to study abroad, and take on courses for new skills. GLASS has provided me with the chance to explore new countries to not only become globally aware and be a global leader but to provide service within these countries and giving back to the world.I have really enjoyed the environment that GLASS has created and the support system they have created for students.
